O-ring

Saturday 10th July 2021 Back to list

An O-ring is an O-shaped cross-section sealing ring installed in a groove with a moderate amount of compression. O-rings are an effective and economical sealing element in a variety of dynamic or static sealing applications. Most standards are defined by the inner diameter d1 of the O-ring and the cross-section diameter d2. O-rings have many advantages over other forms of sealing elements:

Simple, integral groove design reduces parts and design costs;

Compact design, reducing the size of parts;

The applicable medium is very wide, including oil, water, various chemical substances, air, various gases, etc.;

Easy to install, reducing the cost of assembly and the risk of errors;

Suitable for a variety of occasions: dynamic seal, static seal, single-acting or double-acting;

A large number of standard sizes are available from stock worldwide, saving costs and facilitating maintenance and repair.

For the selection of rubber O-rings, please refer to Domit's "O-ring Rubber Sealing Manual". If necessary, please ask for the selection information from the application engineers and sales personnel in the area.
